A day in the lifeDaily activities for a CE include, but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
o Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data centero Serve as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data centero Perform timely root cause analysis of critical equipment failureso Troubleshoot and report of facility and high-criticality events within a pre-determined service level agreement (SLA)o Create and deploy new standards and best practices for EOTs, CEs, and vendor support teamso Provide training and guidance to EOTso Ensure all safety protocols are adhered to by vendor and AWS staffPhysical Requirements:
o Walk job sites in uneven terraino Work at heights and from ladderso Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41 pounds or moreo Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipmento Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balanceo Use hands to manipulate small wires and objectso Push or pull heavy objects into positiono Work in noisy environmentso Work at depths, such as under raised floorsAbout the hiring groupThe Data Center Engineering Operations Team is a group committed to maintaining the critical data center infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services.
Specifically, this team works to ensure that the facility's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems operate at near 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the supporting teams and key stakeholders of the data centers.
Job responsibilitiesThe Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency.
This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues.
The CE serves as an expert technical resource reporting to a site's Data Center Facility Manager (FM) and interacting with onsite Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) and third party vendors.
The CE directs, trains and supports EOT's in their role of operating, troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment.
This equipment includes, but is not limited to:
Stand-by emergency generatorsLow and medium voltage electrical systemsUninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)Chilled water systemsWater treatment systemsBuilding automation systemsFire detection and air quality monitoring systemsImplementation and execution of site and equipment-specific training exercises is also expected.
Also expected from the CE is the ability to management small-to-medium impacting projects from conception to completion.
These projects involve large amounts of independent work as well as collaboration with external support groups including engineering, automation, processing, and finance in both local and global settings.
The CE will be tasked with creating and delivering on key milestones, obtaining and tracking quotes for all necessary costs, and documenting project results for future implementation at other facilities.
The goals of such projects are for the CE to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs in the facilities.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
