, a consolidated facility management/infrastructure service organization, is seeking an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Communications Tech to work at our client site in Fairfax, Virginia.
Qualified candidate will assist the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Northern Virginia (NOVA) District Systems Communications Project manager with key activities that are required to improve the management, documentation, tracking, and visibility of NOVA district communications infrastructure and digital assets.
This is to be accomplished on a routine basis as outlined in the following
Responsibilities:
Experience splicing fiber optic cable or be a certified fiber optic splicer.
Verify utility locations, test and measure fiber optic cable, and perform field investigations for fiber alignment.
Sort, scan, and file ITS and communication construction plans and as-build documentation in plan rooms and assist with developing network diagrams.
Perform due diligence audits of traffic signal communications cabinets to inventory all digital assets and manage the signal communication and ITS digital asset inventory.
Collect, validate, and upload location and network configuration data from the statewide traffic signal Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) to the statewide asset management system.
Assist the communications project manager with evaluating and piloting equipment that may enhance the district communication system.
Any other duties as assigned by a supervisor and/or USF Senior Project Manager.

High School Diploma or GED Experience/Skill Sets:
Strong understanding of electronic theory Proficient skills in using Microsoft Office software products (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Strong written and oral communication skills Work Conditions:
90-day probation period Required VDOT/Industry Training Significant all-season/all-hour operating conditions May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments Work may occur outside along interstate highways requiring necessary safety precautions involved in working with electricity in and alongside traffic Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment subject to short or no-notice work assignments and exposure to inclement weather Work environment is informal, both team and autonomy oriented, having routine tasks with variable pace and pressure Weekend, evening, and overtime work may be required.
Standing for prolonged periods of time, walking, lifting, carrying; frequently reaching, kneeling, climbing, bending, twisting, crouching, and balancing can be expected Monitored performance with routine evaluation NOTE:
This position is designed as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations.
VDOT/Project Management will determine when essential positions are required.
Valid driver's license is required.
DMV records check is required.
Pre-employment drug screen is required.
Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check is required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
